The Dark Side Of Web Development

Copy of Add ite txEvery professional field has its shadow side. When you look behind the scenes, you’ll find something you wish you didn’t know … like the injuries in sports (we won’t talk about deflate-gate), the Bernie Madoffs of Wall Street, the doctors indicted for treating non-existent conditions, the degrees from diploma mills and more.

When it comes to web development, you get horror stories too. [Tweet “A major reason I keep my business focused on websites is that I see nice, ordinary people being defrauded by greedy developers.”] Recently a local dog walker spent a fortune for a website that gave her doodads and geegaws she had no use for, such as an expensive logo and a Google adwords account (she can barely turn on the computer).

Even if you’re experienced you have to be alert. Last year I was shocked to find a high-powered designer promising “customization” to fill in the blanks of a template – something a VA or techie could do. Business owner David Schneider shows what happens when a business owner tried to save money: he thought he was getting a deal, only to find the site was delayed several months. The result was dismal.

Before you write back to say, “I love my web designer,” or, “I am a web designer and I don’t do that,” you’re absolutely right. But when you’re in a hurry or you’re new, you’ll end up with the rottenest apple in the barrel.

I know. I’ve been there.

And a totally honest, competent web developer will deliver better results when the client knows the difference between a page and a post … and doesn’t think widgets come from factories in Detroit.

So what’s the cure?

This webinar helps you learn how to set up WordPress without a techie.
