I once had a dentist who had the most awful, ugly website on the planet. I offered to fix it for him but he refused, insisting that he was getting so many clients he couldn’t afford to make changes.

LOL i loved your graphic for this article, i had to chuckle.

When it comes to landing pages, i definitely believe the copy is just as, if not, more important than design. Sure, it helps if the positioning is right..But i’ve seen tests of banner ads that are ugly that pulled results of 300% higher.

If the clarity of the copy is there, the message is compelling, that’s ultimately what is going to make them decide.

You definitely made me curious about the part with the outdated websites, because i’ve actually have noticed that a lot of copywriters websites are very basic and 2003-ish. Take Joe Vitale’s website for example. The sales pages are also not “beautiful” – yet i bet they pull in plenty of sales.

So i’d say you hit it out of the park with this one Cathy!
