After a period of strong language, intense frustration, and untangling technical knots, my redesigned website is finally live: https://cathygoodwin.com
Like many online business owners, I used to rely on designers and tech pros to handle website changes. And while many of them are talented and well-meaning, I found myself increasingly frustrated.
They didn’t always take time to understand the tools I was using—especially themes like Kadence, which comes with its own quirks. Instead of digging into the details, they’d often throw in a quick bit of code that worked… but left me clueless about how to make future changes.
And when it came time to tweak something or update my content, they’d disappeared on vacation or to a priority project or just … vanished.
I used these tools:
I built the site using the Kadence theme, which I chose for its flexibility and design options. It was a learning curve, but Kadence’s support team was incredibly patient, when I got tangled in the weeds, which was often.
And WPX Hosting, who provided a staging area where I could work on the new site behind the scenes. They even moved the finished product over to my main domain—at no extra cost.
There are still a few minor glitches. Some bugs show up only after the launch, and that’s just part of the journey. But overall, I’m happy.
And I couldn’t have done this without first taking a WordPress course from Christina Hills. She’s now offering a “Summer Camp” version of the course—a shorter, lower-cost version of her full program.
If you’re a solopreneur who wants more control over your digital presence—or if you’re just tired of waiting days (or weeks) for your tech person to respond—this could be a game-changer.
And if you sign up through my link, I’ll gift you a free 1:1 session to help you shape your copy and strategy.
But act quickly—Christina’s Summer Camp closes tonight.
